How To Reverse Cardiovascular And Heart Disease
86How To Reverse Cardiovascular Disease
Because of a bad heart attack I became very, very interested in how to reverse cardiovascular disease (CVD) - also known as heart disease.
I was astonished to learn that reversing cardiovascular disease or, far better, preventing it in the first place is - contrary to popular belief - not only possible, it's awfully easy.
In fact I found various ways to prevent or cure or reverse heart disease. How hard is it to google heart disease cure ?
Personally, I continue to promote Dr Linus Pauling's method because it's the first cure I learned about years ago. It worked exactly as claimed by Pauling in his book How To Live Longer And Feel Better.
And in 2011 it continues to work for me. And I believe it will work for anyone intelligent enough to understand the simplicity of Pauling's therapy, and brave enough to defy ongoing medical bias and nutritional illiteracy to actually try it.
If you are looking for a simpler, saner alternative to medicine's blinkered drugs and surgery approach to CVD, then you might be interested in my story of how I reversed my own CVD (cardio vascular disease) in about one week.
Clogged Arteries
There's only one way to prevent or cure CVD, and that's to unclog the arteries. There are different ways to unclog arteries. I use Linus Pauling's method because it makes so much sense, it allows me to eat and drink normally and not require any medications. I don't even take aspirin. Never have.
A recent example of yet another successful way to unclog arteries and reverse CVD used chelation therapy and the removal of mercury amalgam fillings. You can read all about it at Paul Dewar's blog.
Who has these clogged arteries? You do. I used to. Basically, everyone who is not following a proven program to unclog them. Yes, even children. Our arteries start clogging early and continue until they cause a heart attack or stroke. It's not a case of if one in four of us (or whatever the statistic is today) will suffer a heart attack or stroke, it's a matter of when.
How To Reverse Cardiovascular Disease
“Genius is seeing what everyone else sees and thinking what no one else has thought.” - Albert Szent-Gyorgy - discovered vitamin C
Albert Szent-Gyorgy saw it. Three-times Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling saw it.
Even I saw it after reading Linus Pauling's book. Most doctors and surgeons appear unable to see it. Certainly my ex cardiologist refused to see it.
Anyone reading Pauling's book will see it. When you see it you too will wonder why on earth anyone is still looking for a cure for heart disease! Pauling got it right. He nailed it. A cure for heart disease.
Linus Pauling's book - How To Live Longer And Feel Better - though written for the layman is packed full of relevant medical studies and their results. Pauling's genius highlights how these studies were wrongly or falsely mis-interpreted leading to the current acceptance of the drugs and surgery as the only treatments for heart disease.
Major Heart Attack
Luckily - and because I was otherwise fit and healthy - I survived a major heart attack at age 56. Stress was certainly a contributing factor because I got involved with buying overseas property via a scammer and eventually lost many thousands of dollars.
After one week in hospital I quickly regained my health, strength and fitness by completely reversing my cardiovascular disease. I did this by following Linus Pauling's recommendations in his classic book How To Live Longer And Feel Better,
Firstly (for the sceptics), here are before and after images of my heart, surgery. (Russell is my middle name.)
Pre-Op and Post-Op Images
My Heart Attack At Age 56
In January 2008, aged 56, I suffered a major heart attack. With my partner I had jogged for about five minutes on the way to my parents' house here in the north of England. We had had greasy fish and chips the night before, so at first I hoped it was just some kind of indigestion. I managed to continue walking, very slowly, to my parents's house hoping it would clear up.
After some minutes of pretending there was nothing wrong, I felt a growing sense of unease, or foreboding. Mum sensed straight away it was serious and phoned an ambulance. Feeling worse by the minute I knew I had to get to hospital fast and walked out as the ambulance arrived. The crew were not happy seeing me on my feet and quickly laid me down inside the ambulance and rushed me off to hospital.
A cardiologist was on standby at the hospital and I was rushed into surgery. He quickly got a tube into my right arm (I refused to have it in my groin) and soon located and unblocked and inserted a stent into the artery, bringing much relief from the pain but then I began choking on blood that seemed to be coming from my lungs. He said I needed "more work" (meaning more stents inserted at approx $3,000 each) but was forced to stop because I was choking.
The only reason I didn't choke to death was because I was able to take a quick breath in between each swallow of blood. The cardiologist said the blood must be coming from an ulcer affected by the aspirin given to me in the ambulance. I still suspect it was coming from my lungs. Anyway, luckily the blood stopped after a few minutes. It tasted foul.
Soon after surgery I said I was going to be sick and vomited up maybe a gallon of putrid, black blood. That caused enormous relief to me but horrified my partner and parents when they arrived to see if I was okay. By now the morphine had kicked in and I was feeling wonderful and started babbling about how we should visit everyone in hospital to share the love.
Aged 58, doing "running man", 14 months after heart attack. Looks easy? Try it!
Next - pullups (excuse the bald patch!)
Vitamins And Disease Prevention
For many years I have believed in vitamins and taken them daily, including vitamin C. But rarely more than 1 or 2 grams. I had become so used to feeling good that I failed to realise how important my vitamins were in maintaining my state of wellness.
Also, I had no practical appreciation of the concept of "optimum nutrition". I did not know that the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) was in fact the lowest amount of a vitamin needed to prevent obvious symptoms. For example, even a tiny amount of lime juice protected sailors from scurvy.
The gross error in medical thinking, however, is that all anyone needs is that tiny amount!
Once you understand the concept of optimum nutrition it's obvious why the much touted RDA's have done nothing at all to prevent the epidemic of cardiovascular disease. Or any other disease for that matter!
By amazing coincidence, the day prior to my heart attack I had completely run out of vitamin C and therefore didn't take any at all.
If you have not yet read Pauling's How To Live Longer And Feel Better, then you may not appreciate the importance of this information. Amazingly this Vitamin C prevention and cure for cardiovascular disease was known about in the eighties - even in the thirties - while "modern medicine" continues to ignore it.
Nutritional Illiteracy?
For example, I just came across this latest idiocy -
Multivitamin supplements have “little or no influence” on a woman’s risk of cardiovascular disease or cancer, according to results of the Women’s Health Initiative.
By Stephen Daniells, 10-Feb-2009
A study with 161,808 postmenopausal women aged between 50 and 79, reportedly the largest study ever conducted on this demographic group, found that multivitamins had no effect on the risks related to cardiovascular disease, and a range of cancers.
The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, concludes that, while nutrition should remain a principle focus for the prevention of chronic diseases, it is unlikely that multivitamin supplements have a role to play.
“What this paper shows is that multivitamin use just doesn’t seem to make that much of a difference in this population,” said co-author Sylvia Wassertheil-Smoller from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. “It confers no additional benefit but it also does no harm.”
Okay, we're looking at nutritional illiteracy. How else to explain the above "study"? In the Sixties Linus Pauling preached that It takes megadoses of specific vitamins to obtain the desired effect. For example, I take 18 grams of Vitamin C daily plus 4 grams of L-lysine to keep my arteries clear. The fact that I never catch colds is a bonus I take for granted.
Since recovering so easily from my heart attack (thanks to Linus Pauling) I view people connected in any way with such "studies" as morons. Well, what is the opposite of genius? Only a moron could expect a couple of "multivitamins" to do what a megadose of 18 grams of C does!
Mankind should be grateful to people like Dr Rath. He is far more caring - and effective - than I could ever hope to be. I can't even get my own father off his heart medications.
Dr Rath Fights Nutritional Illiteracy
Dr. Rath is a renowned scientist who has made some of the most fundamental scientific discoveries towards the natural control of cardiovascular disease and cancer. He was also a longtime colleague and friend of the late Noble Laureate, Dr. Linus Pauling.
Before his death in 1994, Dr. Pauling predicted that Dr. Rath's discoveries will threaten the survival of entire industries - namely, the multi-billion dollar investment business with disease - and will trigger the fiercest reactions from them.
Over the past 15 years, this prediction has become reality. Leading the global effort to end health illiteracy, Dr. Rath and his team of researchers have become the focus of attacks from the interests described at one of his websites.
Please have a look at Dr Rath's free health information course.
Weakened By Drugs
The facts are I nearly died of a severe heart attack in January 2008. Being "fit" was the main reason I survived. Also, as I say, I'd always taken vitamins daily. Far more than the RDA's but much less than I actually needed.I'd been doing aikido three days a week, doing weights, and jogging for months. Getting to hospital quickly via ambulance was the other vital factor in my survival. In Emergency, a cardiologist "saved" me by unblocking an artery and inserting a "stent" - but then nearly killed me by causing a heamorrhage. Luckily I also survived that. Then a week in hospital away from my vitamin supply - replaced by the standard drugs prescribed for heart disease - left me weak as a kitten.
Linus Pauling's Protocol
My actual recovery began the day I left hospital and began implementing the vitamin protocol in Linus Pauling's How To Live Longer And Feel Better. As I say, I already knew about Pauling's "cure" but was unable to begin it while still in hospital. The drugs and surgery culture is of course at its strongest in hospitals.
Saying "No" To Drugs
The day I was discharged from hospital I put the bag of "medications" to one side in favour of vitamins. It was not an easy decision. I needed to get Toni's agreement. Because if I (and Linus Pauling) was wrong - and the entire medical establishment was right - then I would die. leaving her alone after a wonderful fourteen year relationship.
We agreed to put off taking any medications that night. Instead I began taking high doses of Vitamin C and L-Lysine. It wasn't easy to stop the drugs! I was still very weak and the hospital brainwashing had been very strong, especially In my weakened post operative condition. In hospital I'd had to take the drugs, and prior to discharge I'd been carefully indoctrinated into how much of which and when of the six drugs I was supposed to take daily for the rest of my life! The attitude was this was the only possible way to survive now.
Say, This Really Works!
That first day home I could barely crawl upstairs to the bathroom, and it left me gasping for breath and my heart pounding in protest. Night times were rough. I'd wake up and know that I needed more C, so I started keeping a big bottle in the bathroom. After a few days I found my optimum level of C (just below bowel tolerance). I could feel my strength and confidence returning almost hourly.
One week later I was almost jogging upstairs and thinking about getting back into bodybuilding and weights. All I had done was replace the medications with high doses of vitamins, following the advice of Dr Linus Pauling in his fantastic book - How To Live Longer And Feel Better!
The Stress Test
About three weeks later I received a letter from the cardiology unit asking me to come in for a "stress test". After reading about stress tests on the internet I decided I was not "ready" for one yet. I ignored the letter and upped my recovery routine - longer walks every day, lifting heavier weights. When I received another letter a few weeks later I felt "ready". The day before the stress test I was running up steps two at a time during long, fast daily walks. I was up to about 18 grams of Vitamin C daily and feeling great.
I was easily able to pass the stress test when I was called back to the cardiology unit. That's when they discovered I hadn't taken any of their medication and the cardiologist abused me. Ten months later, I'm back into bodybuilding with heavy weights, alternated with fairly intensive qigong (chi kung) workouts, I walk for hours with no problem, run up steps, Thanks to Linus Pauling I have regained my health, strength and fitness.
40% Chance of Sudden Death
Following the stress test was an interview. I had a folder of information I'd printed out from various websites regarding the Pauling protocol. When the interviewing nurse told the cardiologist (the cardiologist who had performed my heart surgery) he was very angry when he found out I had not taken any of his drugs. He tried scare tactics, but I had expected that. Toni was with me as he sat on the edge of the desk. His actual words were You have a 40% chance of sudden death in the next twelve months! Well, I guess I showed him! If I died tomorrow he'd still be wrong because that would still be months later than his prediction.
Cause For Celebration
This webpage then, is also a celebration of my living beyond that twelve month mark - thanks to Linus Pauling's How To Live Longer And Feel Better.
The Late Nobel Laureate Dr. Linus Pauling (at age 93). This information could save your life. It saved mine.
Linus Pauling Said...
I believe that you can, by taking some simple and inexpensive measures, lead a longer life and extend your years of well-being.
My most important recommendation is that you take vitamins every day in optimum amounts to supplement the vitamins that you receive in your food.
Those optimum amounts are much larger than the minimum supplemental intake usually recommended by physicians and old-fashioned nutrionists.
by Dr Linus Pauling - How to Live Longer And Feel Better
14 months after my heart surgery, in addition to our weights and aikido workouts, I have returned to jogging once a week. When I began, we hadn't run for 3 months but I found that three sets of "running man" before the weight training keeps me fit enough to go for a run.
We jog to the local cemetary then sprint 100 metres up a hill there, then jog back, takes about half-an-hour.I got Toni to take that video of me doing "running man" and the pullups. I did the pullups twice because the first set of 5 pullups took too long, making a 7 meg movie. You can see our home gym in the background. The point is I have health, strength and fitness.
I share this with the world not to brag, but to make my point, that cardiovascular disease can be prevented or reversed following the recommendations of Linus Pauling in his book, How To Live Longer And Feel Better. If, like me, you have survived a heart attack then you need to ensure you never suffer another one. You need to research this information on the net and/or get a copy of Linus Pauling's book. If you have not yet had a heart attack then it's just a matter of time before you do. That's not my opinion. That's statistics.
My deep-seated belief is the same as Linus Pauling's. That cardiovascular disease is completely reversible and completely avoidable with optimum nutrition/vitamins as outlined in his book. I continue to defy my GP and the cardiologist by not taking any medications. To this day I won't even take an aspirin.
I'm sixty now, alive and well thanks to this book. It saved my life by empowering me to quit ANY and ALL medication/drugs and regain my health. (Charles S)

Charles,
Thankyou, I will ask my father (parents can be stubborn) to take the vitamins you have suggested. Thankyou so much for taking out the time to reply. :)
I shall pray for your continued well being :)
Hi Charles,
I am fascinated by this lens because it is firstly inspirational for us 50-something aged blokes and health is something I write quite a bit about myself. I have been taking around 4 grams of C + L-lysine for years but in my case the vit C was to build collagen and strengthen arteries because I suffered some horrific hospitalising nosebleeds (I have hypertension but it's well under control now) The L-lysine is a to combat coldsores and really works. I read something a few years back on Linus Paulings' use of huge intake of vitamin C health and it seemed to stand him in good stead!
From your experience of large doses have you suffered any side effects (other than diarrhoea)and does your C contain flavenoids (mine do) which are also supposed to be beneficial in keeping arteries clear of cholesterol build up. (BTW I am being kept from writing because I am busy reading your hubs!)
best wishes, James AKA torkinhedd
I now this hub is older but I am glad I found it. Going to start doing more pull ups to prevent heart disease.
Hi Charles,
Great information.
I had CABG surgery a year ago and have been taking the standard medications recommended by my cardiologist. I exercise every day at a pretty intense level and I have no angina. I am not overweight. I feel great but I have concerns about the long-term affects of the heart medications I am taking. I’ve ready numerous articles about statins causing damage to the heart muscle and the high-dose aspirin I am on can’t be good for my stomach.
Since it appears you do not take any cholesterol controlling medication I’m wondering how strict you are in controlling the level of saturated fat and cholesterol in your diet. Do you eat pretty much anything you want? Do you limit the amount of red meat you eat? Are you a vegetarian?
I don’t mind eating a healthier diet but I really don’t want to give up red meat and the occasional order of fish and chips if I don’t have to.
Thanks Charles.
I have another question though. How do you know that the vitamin C has cleaned out your arteries? Have you had any tests done?
Good genes aside, the fact that Pauling lived to be 93 and was active until the end proves to me that he was doing something right.
How do you get such a high dosage of vitamin C? I've found 1 gr pills but that would mean taking almost 20 pills a day. Do you have any recommendations on how to get such a high dose of vitamin C daily?
Great information! I'm only 37, but went through a recent bout of palpitations (PVC's). I went for a stress test and while the PVC's showed up before and after the exercise portion of the test, the cardiologist said it was a normal test, no problems. I then was sent for an echocardiogram where they said I have some mitral calcification. Needless to say, I went in to high gear looking for information on the internet to be as proactive as possible with my heart health. I came across the Linus Pauling information about a week ago and have been taking about 8 grams of vitamin C per day since. I'll get out and pick up some Lysine soon as well. I'm glad you're still doing well. How has your cholesterol been lately? I have high cholesterol and had been on statins for seven years. Ironically, it took some bad news with the echo to convince me to get off the statin. I'm too young to have calcification in my mitral valve. The palpitations have stopped and I feel great. Thanks again for your inspirational story!
I'm up to 20g of vitamin C and 4g lysine per day. I stopped taking my statins about 2 weeks ago and I've noticed an increase in the amount of weight I can squat with.
Have you heard of the benefits of lecithin for heart health? I accidentally bought lecithin instead of lysine and didn't want it to go to waste. I did some research and apparently it is just as effective as statins in reducing cholesterol.
Have you tried chelation? Supposed to clean the calcium out of your arteries. Or is it not needed if you take Vitamin C and Lysine?
Paul, my husband had heart attack this year at age 43. Prior to the heart attack he had lost 15 lbs, his cholesterol had dropped to normal, and two weeks prior to his heart attack his blood work came back positively--4% chance of having heart attack in the next 10 years. I'm terrified of his going of his statins, plavix, beta-blockers (although no history of blood pressure problems) because it had been me originally who had encouraged him to proceed "the natural way" before pursuing statins. After his heart attack I took every book out of the library and probably scanned your referred book during the process. I also paid great attention to Dr. Esselstyn's book. Do you have any words of wisdom for a 43-year old man (family does have strong history of heart disease; perhaps how to proceed? Grateful for any info, Lori
HI Charles
i am turning 30 this year, and towards the end of 2010, i was diagnosed with HBP, doctor put me on 50mg atenolo. i was 95kg 3month ago...i understand the importance of losing those extra kg with the hope that it will bring down my HP and discontinue the BP medication soon. Now i am 80 KG.
Just study about Linus Pauling months ago, and now on Vitamin C 3g ( timed released) and L Lysine 2 g. Hope that it will protect my Heart, since i do have the family history dying of CVD.
any commend of the time released vitamin c that i am taking?
Regards
Peter
Hi Charles, Thanks for your reply. by the way, do you also include Proline into your supplements regiment? i read about Dr. Mattias Rath who also advice for the intake of Proline with Vit C and Lysine.
I have just purchased books by Dr. Linus Pauling from Amazon, cant wait to read it.
By the way, can you share with me about controlling Blood Pressure using Vitamin C ( high Dose ) i am thinking of put away the atenolol that i am currently taking. currently i am with 6 g Vit C and 6 g of Lysine. i will slowly increase it till i reach bowel tolerance.
Thanks a lot for the opinion, i value it, now i am on 8 g of vit C and 6 g of Lysine ( thats enough for Lysine i guess ). I hope you wont mind answering some of my post here once a while :) you are my source of inspiration in fighting CVD. I saw my Dad got heart attack few times, driving him to hospital really gave me trauma till now..thats why, i make resolution this year 2011 will be the year i eliminate any potential CVD risk. its going to be a VIT C YEAR this year.
My Books will arrive tomorrow... will be busy reading it. hope the next time when i write to you, you will witness another miracle of VIT C in action.
God Bless.
Thanks so much for this hub; it is a must read for EVERYONE! Glad you are in good health. I just ordered Pauling’s book through your link. I’ve been trying to get my husband off statins for years – maybe between your hub and Pauling’s book he will finally get it. Thanks!
Charles,
I recently was in the hospital for chest pain, pain in the left arm, etc. They did the basic tests for proteins that appear after heart attack and didn't find any changes. I did a stress test to 190 bpm without any pain, and only normal shortness of breath as would be expected at such a high heart rate. I tried to give the doctors info on what was going on with me. That I had recently changed my diet, started exercising (stair climbing for 30min/day and losing ~15lbs in 5 weeks), and my biggest mistake drinking exclusively reverse osmosis(RO) water. I'm now 5 days out of the hospital and learned a couple of things. First that the RO water was depleting me of desperatly needed minearals. The second was related to a comment by my doctors that my cholesterol was like a marathon runner (total was 96 I think). My sister the nutritionist pointed out that cholesterol too low can be real bad. I searched on the web for low cholesterol problems etc. and hit upon a good website related to connective tissue disorder syndrome (www.ctds.info - not trying to plug just give info). So as I started remineralizing and taking vitamins, and bringing my acid body pH back up to more normal ranges (still not there yet) I began to feel better. I learned that Magnesium is key to turning off adrenaline production - so being demineralized I basically had set myself up for some seriously bad stuff. I felt like I was going to die very soon unless I found the problem. Suffice it to say I'm doing 'normal' mineralized water now, taking minerals, as well as flax seed, cocoonut (raw pressed only - not extracted), etc. I started looking around to see if there might be a way to reverse CVD should I have any (contrary to what the doctors told me since I'm convinced most of them are incompetent and I don't ever want to end up in a hospital again if possible) and hit upon your webpage. I'm going to up my vitamin C and get some Lysine since I also want to start clearing out my arteries. FYI I'm 47 and previous to working out and losing 15lbs I was very depressed. Now I have a lot to live for and want to reverse as much as possible so I don't ever have a heart attack. Basically I wanted to thank you for the page, and links. Wondered if anything beyond familiarizing myself with Pauling and Atkins you might point out. reaching for the vitamin C and will get the Lysine tomorrow.
Thanks again,
Randy R
Randy - All the Best bro. perhaps to have better info, you could also purchase the book by Dr. Linus Pauling - How to live longer and feel better. the information inside will definitely enhance your understanding in reversing artery blockage...:) right Charles?
Charles, Great hub, Dr.Pauling is one of my heroes also. Ever since my wifes Heart Attack in 2005, I have spent many hours studying Cardio Vascular Disease. And, when I first realized the statistics, bringing that info to as many people as I can became a crusade! Good health and Good Luck to you.
Still here you too. I found a new DO and am continuing tests. Echocardiogram recently and nuclear stress test should be reasonably definitive regarding heart function and blood flows. I only have the DICOM data and not the completed doctor work up and the nuclear stress test is upcoming.
I need to nab Pauling's book and since I'm off work the next 7 days I have lots of time to do some shopping and reading. As far as I can tell everything looks fine. I have pretty normal valve sizes, pressures are in nominal ranges. I don't have any issues with shortness of breath. Just odd pains in chest here on occasion. Not huge just disconcerting. A friends husband who is a doctor said he had two friends who went undiagnosed with Thyroid disfunction that had almost identical symptoms to mine said that the symptoms took months to go away. But with any chest pain it's best to first look really hard, confirm nothing is wrong there and move on, than to wait.
The biggest issue is all of my hospital trips occurred the day after my eye tests and had never happened previously so I'm going to look very carefully at what these people are putting into my eyes to see what the heck is up. I also stopped taking the medication my eye doctor put me on because the other doctors felt that for whatever reason I was like also reacting to that stuff as well. Slowly I am feeling better like it's taking extra time to remineralize, and remove whatever stuff was in the eye dialating agents my opthamalogist was using.
I also was under extremely high stress from many corners all at the same time (which most of the doctors are thinking is causing most of my issues - I am Type-A personality) and had stopped doing anything that relieved stress (like a drink of homemade wine after work etc.) just to try to really get healthy. Anyway I'll keep checking in and definately get Pauling's book here in the next day or so.
One other note because people may encounter this trying to deal with suppliments. I noticed my nutritionist DO sold me Mg (Aspertate) and Ca (Aspertate) - which means the minerals are chelated with effectively Aspertame - a very evil material that I'm convinced turns into a neurotoxin in the body. I wished I had read the label when I purchased so I could return them. People please stay away from anything with Aspertame as it really can cause all kinds of odd stuff contrary to what the FDA thinks (muscle twitches, headaches, other nervous system disorders). If you have diabetes or require low sugar intake - just add a bit of lemon or lime to water - the natural flavoring works wonders - and start doing moderate exercise - the cure for a lot of ills. Don't wait until you have a serious condition to turn your life towards a healthy lifestyle and learn everything you can because the doctors only know what they learn and tend to project the solutions the medical industrial complex sell on us (can we sell you pills?) when in reality just correcting body imbalances, stopping bad habits, managing stress, eating right, and exercising can reverse a lot of stuff.
I'm convinced the body has numerous mechanisms to correct many diseasements - learn to use them - and learn to use the medicines in natural products (teas, foods, essential oils, etc.) and normal suppliments. I learned that due to the acidity of our soils Mg is no longer as available now as just 100 years ago. Most of us are chronically deficient in it. But be aware Mg in most forms isn't easily absorbed and can change stomach pH away from acid (making digestion problematic if used too much) - meaning if you think you want to take Mg - just do it mostly on an empty stomach - early in morning or very late at night, or significantly in between meals. I also learned Mg is a relaxant (good for us Type-A's who need a bit of relaxing) and Ca is the opposite but needed as well for proper muscle health.
ANyway just sharing what I've learned. THanks again you guys, and keep on pumping the good stuff.
Randy
Hi Charles,
finally i reach my bowel tolerance for C its about 15 - 16g. one think i notice immediately is that i feel much more better despite the feeling of tiredness and fatigue due to the side effect of BP medication Atenelol. before the C i feel so tired and fatigue. By the way, can you share with me your supplement regimen? I am now taking Vit C, Lysine and E ...thinking of introducing L- Arginine and coq10. what is your recommendation?
Hi Charles, firstly let me say a very big thank you for sharing your stuff with us...am 49 yrs old, i have BP and palpitations,i just found your hub and i want to start the vit.C and the lysine...what do say about having to use the BP medications and the Vits? pls advice. thanks.
David, I echo Charles' advice. Get the book and take the C. I am 52, had bypass surgery a few years ago. Have never felt better since taking the high-dose C and lysine. I am lifting heavier weights than I was lifting in my 20s. I run 4-5 miles every other day and I barely get my heart rate into my training zone because it's in such good shape. My cardiologist was amazed at the blood flow in my heart now. He thinks it's the meds he prescribed. I did not want to rely on meds because I saw my brother-in-law pass away because of his heart problems and his reliance on what the doctor prescribed. I rely on the Lysine and C.
And I've watched my family suffer through innumerable colds this year. I have not had one.
Hi Charles
glad to see that more and more people come to embrace Vit C and Lysine to take control of their heart. Just a little update on my progress, i am still on Vit C ( powder form ) and Lysine plus other supplements recommended by both Dr Linus and Dr. Matthias. My BP is under control, i am cutting down my Atenolol from 50 to 25mg. i am sure i will put off the med in no time.
Keep it up everyone and God Bless.
Hello Charles, how are you? They were about to charge you $3,000 per stent at a hospital in the North of ENGLAND? I can only think it must have been a private hospital...at an NHS hospital there's no charge and people arriving in ambulances just get treated, there's no checking them out financially beforehand.
Hi Charles, great information. I am on the Linus treatment but am spending a lot of money on a formula found on line. I will reconsider and get the cheap stuff! How is your shoulder? I had a similar problem and had great results with a book Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff by Jim Johnson. I have no connection to him so don't profit for the recommendation. But i have bought it for several family members and friends with good results. Thanks so much for your posts and good to hear you are doing so well.
My father has suspected angina and has just starting taking medication as he is awaiting a test to decide if this is the case. Did you take your heart medication at the same time as lysine, etc? How did you talk to your doctors about a natural remedy as I guess they must have been negative.
Hi charles,
its been w while now since my last post here, i am exiting to share with you that i am now no more on BP medication, my BP is in the normal range , i have done quite a lot of research on fighting illness with supplementation. I also came to know many Heroes in Orthomoleculars Medicine, ppl like Dr. Abram Hoffer, Dr. Andrew Saul, Dr. Tom Levy and many more. its really exiting.
Dear all, i also like to suggest that we could also read the work of Dr Andrew Saul. visit his wedsite and you will find many information on health related info ( doctoryourself.com )

Hello Charles,
My father suffered from two heart attacks in a row in just one week; the first one was minor but the second one was mega-major. By the grace of God, he survived and has two stents in his heart at the moment. He walks and jogs for half an hour daily but it breaks my heart to see him getting tired really easily. He was so vigorous and healthy before the heart attacks. He takes Centrum Silver (that vitamin for people above 50) daily but it's not helping much. Considering that you have had been in his place, do you have any suggestions?
